LAnd of the Snakes

“Made it to LA, yeah. Finally in LA, yeah.”

My mom and I just decided to take a random trip to Cali after talking about going for a few years. As soon as we landed we went straight to In-N-Out since it was down the street from our hotel. We stayed at Aloft in El Segundo which was about 5 minutes from LAX.

Thursday, my mom and I started the day by going to Simply Wholesome to check out all the vegan/organic products they have. We also ended up getting smoothies and just chilling in the little outdoor area and just enjoyed the nice Cali weather.

Later in the afternoon we walked the streets of Crenshaw & Slauson to see some of the Nipsey Hussle murals. It was such a surreal moment. The atmosphere was so calm and settle. I took the moment to just observe everyone and feel their emotions. You can tell his death still has such a major impact on everyone. Hearing some of the conversations that went on everyone said the same thing, “Why Nip? Why not someone else?” 5 months later we’re all still in shock of his death. May he continue to rest and his legacy continue..RIP Ermias.

Friday morning we woke up early to go to the Shoe Palace on Melrose to attend the Nipsey Hussle gallery which was amazing. It’s crazy how it all worked out because all month I was like I hope I get to run into Sammy or Lauren while I’m in LA. That Tuesday before I left Sammy posted about the gallery being on Friday. It’s like the universe heard me because I wanted to go the Shoe Palace anyway then to top it off the event was going to be there ! I ended up seeing Sammy. She’s so chill and beautiful but, the highlight of that whole moment was when Nipsey’s grandmother came out to thank of all of us for coming out and showing love. I also got to take a picture with her. As soon as she come up to me she was like “look at that shirt” because I had on a RIP Nipsey shirt that I got while I was in Myrtle Beach a few months ago. She was so sweet.

After the event we went back to the hotel to shower and relax for a little bit before going to Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles. We both got the Obama special (3 wings and a waffle). I also got a side of mac & cheese. The whole meal was bomb af I can’t wait to go back! Overall the trip was amazing. I’m so ready to move there already! (2020 goals!)
